Carine Roitfeld’s Book “Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent” Can Now Be Pre-Ordered

It may have been all about Emmanuelle Alt's first solo Vogue Paris issue for the past couple of weeks, but lest be forgotten, Carine Roitfeld's highly anticipated book comes out this fall and can already be pre-ordered on Amazon.

Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent was edited by Purple's Olivier Zahm and written by Roitfeld herself with contributions by Cathy Horyn, Amy Larocca and Anna Wintour. An image-heavy book, it will mostly contain photoshoots Roitfeld did with Mario Testino throughout her career (including The Face and French Glamour). A photoshoot certainly to be included? "The Butcher" editorial that appeared in The Face magazine in 1997, photographed by Testino featuring Eva Herzigova.

High-Fashion Books: Christian Lacroix And The Tale Of Sleeping Beauty

High-Fashion Books: Christian Lacroix And The Tale Of Sleeping Beauty

Christian Lacroix is the subject, inspiration and collaborator of the first iconic-designer-meets-fairy-tale book by Camilla Morton. The book, illustrated by Christian Lacroix himself, weaves in the designer's biography into the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Morton tells of a world where a young boy draws, creates and designs for as long as he can remember himself, inspired by anything and everything around him and dreams of great things and a princess who is saved by couture from a lifetime of boring outfits. The last few pages list Lacroix's actual biography timeline. Even if the story itself is superficial at times, the book's illustrations alone are worth it and give an insight into the drawing process of one of the important couturiers ...

High Fashion Books: The Fashion Designers’ Sketchbook

Hywel Davies's new book - The Fashion Designer’s Sketchbook - let's you in on some of the biggest fashion designer's design process. John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Matthew Williamson, Yohji Yamamoto and many others answers questions like how they design, when they are most creative, what materials they used and what environment they work in and provided Davies with idea sketches from their most recent collections.

Dries Van Noten, it appears, is inspired by fabric while Yohji Yamamoto begins from a silhouette. But most of them agree - best time to be creative is the night.

High Fashion Books: Minimalism and Fashion

High Fashion Books: Minimalism and Fashion

The one clear thing we saw at New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 is the triumph of minimalism. The runways and presentation spaces were awash with neutrals and simplicity. So really, Minimalism and Fashion couldn't have come at a better time.

Minimalism and Fashion, a new coffee-table book by the award-winning fashion historian Elyssa Dimant explores minimalism in decades past and it's relationship with fine art. Organized in chronological order, Minimalism and Fashion takes us on a journey - from Madeleine Vionnet to Helmut Lang in over 150 photos.

The book features works by the likes of Madeleine Vionnet, André Courrèges, Halston, Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo, Miuccia Prada, Yohji Yamamoto, Helmut Lang and Francisco Costa (Calvin Klein). Incidentally, Francisco Costa, creative director ...

Claude Montana book coming out!

Claude Montana book coming out!

This is quite the exciting news. For the past few months Claude Montana himself and journalist Marielle Cro have been working on a coffee-table book documenting Montana's glorious career. The book will include photos and interviews with insiders who got to witness Montana's glory years.

Claude Montana practically invented the strong shoulder and is responsible for millions of women around the world walking around with shoulders twice their size (at least).

Back in Claude Montana's glory years, in the 80's and early 90's, it seemed that he, Thierry Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier would rule the fashion world forever with their bold aesthetics and exaggerated silhouettes. But, as all good things must come to an end, the trend changed and so ...

High Fashion Books: The Matthew Williamson Book

High Fashion Books: The Matthew Williamson Book

Yesterday, a new and exciting high-fashion book was launched (what can I say, I'm a sucker for a good high-fashion coffee-table book) - the Matthew Williamson book. The book was, of course, published by the Italian publishing house Rizzoli. They seem to be publishing the best high-fashion books out there.

Anyway, the Matthew Williamson book covers Matthew Williamson's rich and colorful (albeit short) history from 1997, when he debuted his signature collection, to his current global success status. The book's introduction was written by his friend and muse Sienna Miller who was a prominent guest at yesterday's book launch. She of course wore a Matthew Williamson Spring 2011 dress.

If the book is going to cover even half of his intricate ...
