Supermodels Turn Entrepreneurs To Get Paid

Supermodels Turn Entrepreneurs To Get Paid

It's no secret that today's models and even supermodels don't get rich by walking the runway or being on the cover of Vogue. Not directly anyways. So if you think that by walking a dozen shows in Milan you'll get a pay day - don't hold your breath! The secret of course is doing campaigns and brand ambassadorships. Those will get you into the six-figure range. But if you're after those illusive seven-figures, you'll need to think outside the modeling box.

Forbes just named 13 models banking millions of dollars each year thanks to lucrative deals in a myriad of markets. From signature fragrances, skincare, jewelry, shoes and clothing lines to television shows and the more esoteric organic food production.

Phoebe Philo, Nicholas Kirkwood And Meadham Kirchhoff Win At British Fashion Awards

Last night a crowd of some seriously talented and stylish people arrived at the Savoy Hotel for the 2010 British Fashion Awards.

The ceremony opened with the screening of Nick Knight's tribute film for Alexander McQueen who received an honorary Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design award.

The big winner last was Phoebe Philo who was named Designer of the Year. She did bring back minimalism after all. Winner hopefuls were the likes of Christopher Kane and Erdem.

Hermès Further Protects Itself From LVMH

Hermès Further Protects Itself From LVMH

I think we've already established that Hermès really don't want LVMH to hold any of it's shares, not to mention gain control over it. Now the dozens of heirs to Thierry Hermès that control 73.4 percent of the company have come up with a new plan.

In stead of the current structure where all the heirs hold shares of Hermès separately, the family members formed a new unlisted holding company that now holds over 50 percent of Hermès shares. This way LVMH won't be able to buy Hermès chunk by chunk.

And thus the war continues.

Bedbugs Close Down 5th Avenue’s Juicy Couture. Because Someone Had To

Bedbugs Close Down 5th Avenue’s Juicy Couture. Because Someone Had To

Alright, so it may be only temporarily, but I take what I can get.

It seems that for the next few days you are going to have to shop for that velour tracksuit elsewhere, because Juicy Couture's 650 Fifth Avenue store closed down due to discovery of bedbugs. So if you ever needed a reason not to buy that velour mess - I hope that's the one.

I'm washing my hands of these bedbugs. Just in the past year they've hit Macy's, Niketown, Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, you get the drift. Those begbugs have a tacky taste!

Juicy Couture had this to say, "We wanted to inform the public and our consumers that we have temporarily closed the Juicy Couture ...

Kristen McMenamy, Freja Beha Erichsen and Raquel Zimmermann Are Louis Vuitton Spring 2011 Trio

Kristen McMenamy, Freja Beha Erichsen and Raquel Zimmermann Are Louis Vuitton Spring 2011 Trio

Sources say that Louis Vuitton continue their love for trios as their fashion campaign motif. It was all about classic beauties for Fall 2010 - Christy Turlington, Natalia Vodianova and Karen Elson, but in Spring 2011 things are definitely about to get edgier.

Kristen McMenamy, Freja Beha Erichsen and Raquel Zimmermann were taped by Louis Vuitton as the new trio for their Spring 2011 ad campaign. Kristen McMenamy and Raquel Zimmermann both recently starred in Gareth Pugh short fashion films and Freja Beha Erichsen appeared on Vogue Italia November 2010 cover. Incidentally, McMenamy closed the Louis Vuitton Spring 2011 runway show.

Jonathan Saunders, BFC/Vogue Fund Nominee, To Design For Escada

Jonathan Saunders, BFC/Vogue Fund Nominee, To Design For Escada

So far, I'd say Jonathan Saunders is having a pretty great year. He has sent an amazing Spring 2011 collection down the London Fashion Week runway. Saunders then was nominated for the 2011 BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund Prize thanks to that collection. And now news come out that Jonathan Saunders will design a capsule collection for Escada Sport's Resort 2012 season.

Jonathan Saunders's Escada Sport Resort 2012 capsule collection will be unveiled in June and will consist of about 20 pieces. Escada Sport is the more laid back and colorful offspring of the elegant and put-together Escada and color is exactly what Jonathan Saunders will bring to the label.

Escada, by the way, is set to be completely fur free starting January ...
