2011 Oscars Red Carpet: Our Worst Dressed Top Ten

2011 Oscars Red Carpet: Our Worst Dressed Top Ten

None of the Red Carpet looks at yesterday's 2011 Oscars were that awful. As I said before, no one other than Cate Blanchett really attempted to make a fashion statement. The advantage of that, I suppose, is that no one had a total fiasco as well. Some were boring, some were too plain, and others simply tacky. I noticed that people liked Jennifer Lawrence's red Calvin Klein. While I thought she looked good, the dress looked too casual and bore strong resemblance to a Baywatch bathing suit. Natalie Portman was another disappointment. I always look forward to seeing what contemporary designer's look she'll wear, but this time, even though it was Rodarte, the dress could have been anyone's. It was ...

2011 Oscars Red Carpet: Our Best Dressed Top Ten

Overall, I was very pleased with the 2011 Oscars Red Carpet looks. I was hoping to see of some the more daring Spring 2011 Haute Couture, but the only one who truly satisfied my high-fashion appetite was Cate Blanchett who carried that Givenchy Haute Couture gown with great poise and elegance. Most other looks were quite safe and uneventful to such an extent that two of our Best Dressed ladies are actually "wives of" - McConaughey's Camila Alves and Wahlberg's Rhea Durham. Is making a fashion statement out of fashion?

So check out our 2011 Oscars Best Dressed list below and stay tuned for our 2011 Oscars Worst Dressed.

2011 SAG Awards: Our Worst Dressed Top Ten

2011 SAG Awards: Our Worst Dressed Top Ten

Some managed to shine at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. And others ... should have looked twice in a mirror before leaving the house.

I noticed a long time ago that from some reason, critics tend to judge harshly svelte starlets' outfits while either leaving their more heavy counterparts alone or giving them special props for not leaving the house in a tent. Well, I am going to break this tradition. Be they fat, huge-breasted or simply pregnant ladies. Considering how many people are uprising, demanding designers and magazines to cater to heavy (I'm not willing to use the term "real") women, then we should be able to superficially judge their red-carpet looks just the same. They ...

2011 SAG Awards: Our Best Dressed Top Ten

The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were rather low-key red-carpet-looks wise. I suppose with the Oscars coming up you do have to keep your best looks for last. Still, some managed to shine. When you've got the confidence and the perfectly fitting, flattering dress - it doesn't matter that it's not the most recent Haute Couture.

Let's begin the countdown, shall we.

2011 Golden Globe Awards: Our Worst Dressed Top Ten

2011 Golden Globe Awards: Our Worst Dressed Top Ten

I think in general we can crown last night's 2011 Golden Globe Awards as a success. There weren't a lot of atrocities out there. Some were standing out stunners, some beautiful wall flowers and others simply boring. No one was especially bad or cringe worthy. The women in the 2011 Golden Globe Awards Worst Dressed list are here by the misfortune of either picking a dress that was wrong for them in style or in size. We saw them doing so much better in years past and I'm sure they'll bounce back quickly.

A special note should go to Michelle Williams who fell the hardest. The woman made Red Carpet history with her stunning canary yellow Vera Wang gown at ...

2011 Golden Globe Awards: Our Best Dressed Top Ten

Last night, at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, we saw a lot of sparkle with green, sand and pink colors dominating the red carpet. The most buzzed is probably Olivia Wilde who wore a sparkly princess Marchesa gown. True, she looked beautiful, but when you think about it, she is a size 4 wearing a sparkly princess gown. Yes, she stands out, but it's rather banal and a tad too much if you ask me.

A special mention goes to Natalie Portman who wore a strapless Victor & Rolf gown and Jane Krakowski in a one-shoulder Badgley Mischka gown. Both ladies looked beautifully elegant, flattering their baby-bumps instead of exaggerating it.

Let's begin the countdown, shall we.

Best Dressed: Kate Bosworth In Jil Sander Spring 2011

Best Dressed: Kate Bosworth In Jil Sander Spring 2011

I cannot describe how happy I was to finally see a Jil Sander Spring 2011 look on the red carpet. Such a strong and defining look - a minimalist t-shirt ball-gown - and Kate Bosworth wears it gracefully and naturally. This is the epitome of modern red-carpet gown.

Kate Bosworth wore the Jil Sander Spring 2011 t-shirt gown to the Hollywood Style Awards a few days ago and I have to give her special props not only for pulling it off but also for doing so on the West Coast.

Best Dressed: Dree Hemmingway in Christian Dior

Best Dressed: Dree Hemmingway in Christian Dior

Stylish crowds attended the grand reopening of the Dior Boutique on 57th street. Everyone wore their best Dior and Dree Hemingway was no exception.

A touch of neon color on gray is probably one of my favorite color combinations out there, so that neon pink belt on a gray sweater is definitely a contributing factor to the reason Dree Hemingway is Best Dressed this week. He look is styled to perfection. An ethereal light-weight floral Christian Dior dress is juxtaposed with a gray sweater with a neon pink belt tying it all together. Smart!
