Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2011 Collection Softens Up With Knits And Plaid

Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2011 Collection Softens Up With Knits And Plaid

Nicolas Ghesquière's Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2011 collection sets one thing straight. Ghesquière is still not done with the futuristic cocoon silhouette. Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2011 very much continues Spring 2011 collection's androgynous and plastic-like motifs.

Although the fabrics are still stiff, the silhouettes are still cocoonish and the pants are still pencil-leg, Ghesquière has definitely softened things up a bit. He introduced more organic-feel materials like silk, fur, soft knits and wool plaid. It will be interesting to see how he will develop Balenciaga Fall 2011 further. Another collection of stiff androgynous silhouettes would be a bit one-note and we already know that Ghesquière is anything but.

Tom Ford Spring 2011 Full Runway Show HQ Video

I suppose the one good thing about Tom Ford painstakingly controlling the media at his recent Spring 2011 presentation show is that the media he is now slowly releasing is superbly produced. When did you last see such a high quality runway show video?

In the video you can finally see Tom Ford's entire Spring 2011 collection and models/"real women" strutting their stuff down the runway. The music by the way is by Karen Elson.

Topshop Spring 2011 Lookbook: American Sportswear Meets Punk-y Bohemia

Topshop Spring 2011 Lookbook: American Sportswear Meets Punk-y Bohemia

Topshop Spring 2011 lookbook is out and one thing is clear. For Spring 2011 Topshop gives us everything we could possibly want from New York, Milan, Paris, and London runways. We have neutral-color, modern-cut American sportswear looks that absolutely dominated New York Fashion Week. Bold colors that awakened us and got us excited watching the Milan runways (the horizontal stripe skirt and stiff shirt is a silhouette straight out of Prada's Spring 2011 collection). And of course the wild-spirited bohemian chic that Topshop loves to dress us in so much.

It's taupe meets acid-wash meets punk neon hair meets hippie rope sandals. Buzz worthy items are the bold-color degradé dresses, lucite platform open-toe camel boots and polka-dot wide-leg pants. What is ...

The Good Kind Of Goth: Chris Habana Spring 2011 Jewelry

The Good Kind Of Goth: Chris Habana Spring 2011 Jewelry

The new Chris Habana Spring 2011 jewelry collection is filled with subversive jewelry inspired by goth iconography and pop culture. The kind of jewelry you wear when you're not buying into the "diamonds are girl's best friends" mantra. Jewelry for the cool kids.

Dubbed Mon Amour, Mon Ennemi, Habana's new Spring 2011 collection is a beautiful balance between darkness and romanticism. The lookbook that was photographed by Dom Smith and styled by Cameron Cooper captures that notion and shows that edgy people need love too.

Chris Habana started his unisex line of jewelry in 2004 and has come very far since then. Over the years he was featured in highly regarded publications like V Magazine, Vogue Italia, The New York ...

Alexander Berardi for Jessica Jensen Spring 2011 Handbags

Alexander Berardi for Jessica Jensen Spring 2011 Handbags

A few months ago Alexander Berardi sent his Spring 2011 collection down the NY Fashion Week runway. Models trotted down the runway in breezy, light as air dresses, tunics and rompers. All in neutral colors and nautical prints. The bags and clutches that some of the models held - you couldn't miss. Those were a collaboration between Alexander Berardi and accessories designer Jessica Jensen.

The Alexander Berardi for Jessica Jensen handbags, just as Berardi's Spring 2011 collection, are weekend-at-the-beach ready. Also in neutral colors, with hand-woven intrecciato and removable silk bows, the handbags are sure to complement perfectly any summer wardrobe.

The line retails at a rather decent price range of $398 – $1498 (considering we're talking goatskin and lambskin here) and ...

Chanel Métiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2011 Paris-Byzance Collection

Chanel Métiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2011 Paris-Byzance Collection

This year for Chanel's Pre-Fall 2011 Métiers d'Art line, Karl Lagerfeld took us to the Byzantine era, after visiting Shanghai, Moscow, London, Los Angeles and Tokyo in years past.

Chanel uses the Pre-Fall season to showcase it's Métiers d'Art line, launched in 2002, which showcases luxury ready-to-wear pieces embellished with couture details. Métiers d'Art was set up as an ode to couture houses acquired by Chanel back in 1997 - Les maisons Lesage, Desrues, Lemarié, Michel, Massaro, Goossens and Guillet. All masters in their fields of embroidery, lace and leather goods.

Regal hues of greens, bronzes and golds, heavy embroidery and Byzantine elements created an especially luxurious and hedonistic collection, selling for the no less hedonistic price range of $4,000 - $40,000.

The Crystallization Concept: Iris Van Herpen Spring 2011

The Crystallization Concept: Iris Van Herpen Spring 2011

"I am fascinated by the fact that there are secret lines hidden in totally transparent and liquid material. Life appears at the moment of freezing, when crystals form. Only then becomes the underlying symmetry and structure visible," so Iris Van Herpen described the inspiration for her recent Spring 2011 collection appropriately dubbed 'Crystallization'.

Avant-garde and definitely highly conceptual, Iris Van Herpen's Spring 2011 collection is also incredibly intricate. All of the pieces were crafted by hand out of hundreds of thin strips of different types leathers all the while keeping perfect symmetry and structure. You would expect no less from a collection inspired by crystals.

Iris Van Herpen's incredible designs don't go unnoticed. She recently won the Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award which ...

Thom Browne Women’s Spring 2011 Collection For The Subversive Wasp

Thom Browne Women’s Spring 2011 Collection For The Subversive Wasp

Back in June Thom Browne announced his fore into womenswear. First will come a small womenswear Spring 2011 collection, we were told, then in February we will get a full Fall 2011 runway show.

Browne promised this collection will be, in his words, “understandable” and embody a strong but sexy woman's spirit. Indeed it does. The ultra-refined waspy silhouettes that he created with superb tailoring, he broke down with bold colors and whimsical prints. These are no ordinary preppy clothes. In a sea of today's grungy too-cool-for-school looks, Thom Browne's womenswear is what really will make you stand out.

Thom Browne Women's Spring 2011 collection will be sold in Thom Browne's flagship store in Tribeca and Barney's.
