Shao Yen Spring 2011 Collection Lookbook

Shao Yen Spring 2011 Collection Lookbook

I discovered Shao Yen's dreamy knits and fluffy silhouettes made of nylon stings a few months ago. His Fall 2010 collection was beautifully featured in Dazed & Confused magazine. He was one of the lucky few Central Saint Martins graduates that got to show their graduation collections on the runway during London Fashion Week Fall 2010.

His Spring 2011 collection is smaller, but good nontheless. Shao Yen presented the small Spring 2011 collection during London Fashion Week a few weeks ago. While continuing to use the fake fur made of nylon strings, he introduced new colors, silhouettes and materials. Pieces like the black leather vest with ruffle-like zipper trim and cream mini dress with cutout-ribs detail are standing out ...

Japan Fashion Week: 10 Quirkiest Spring 2011 Looks

Japan Fashion Week: 10 Quirkiest Spring 2011 Looks

Japan Fashion Week came to it's conclusion last week. While most of the shows were quite levelheaded, giving us a myriad of fashionable high-street looks (G.V.G.V is even retailing at Opening Ceremony), some stood out. And not in a omg-i-must-have-this-right-now way. Is it cultural differences that account for my branding these as quirky? Perhaps. You'll be the judge of that. I still think these are just plain weird.

Sang A Spring 2011 Bags Presentation: Fish Leather And Exotic Skins

Sang A Spring 2011 Bags Presentation: Fish Leather And Exotic Skins

I popped in for Sang A Spring 2011 handbags presentation at the CFDA fashion incubator (Times Square is tolerable during morning hours!) last week. Sang A uses a lot of exotic skins (her water snake bag was featured in WWD alongside Bottega Veneta and Chanel last year), but what I like about her is that she doesn't rely on the leather texture alone, rather she creates great contemporary bags that just happen to be made of exotic skins.

Lucy In The Sky: Fannie Schiavoni Spring 2011 Metal Accessories

Lucy In The Sky: Fannie Schiavoni Spring 2011 Metal Accessories

Fannie Schiavoni broke into the London fashion scene less than two years ago but her metal accessories are already all the rage. I say metal accessories because you can't quite call these jewelry. Fannie Schiavoni's pieces are more than that. Bigger. Each one is transforming you into a woman warrior without the comic-con connotation. We're talking strictly high-fashion here.

Fannie Schiavoni's background in tailoring and working experience with Hussein Chalayan, Giles Deacon and Julien Macdonald has won her a NEWGEN sponsorship from the British Fashion Council and her pieces were already adorned by the likes of Rihanna (Rockstar 101), The Scissor Sisters and Lady Gaga.

Lingerie: Bordelle Spring 2011 Collection

Lingerie: Bordelle Spring 2011 Collection

I love Bordelle. Their lingerie really reminds me of Jean Paul For La Perla lingerie, but I suppose that timeline wise I should really say that it's Jean Paul Gaultier For La Perla that reminds me of Bordelle.

Bordelle's Spring 2011 lookbook is out and of course, as always, we get more super sexy, alluring lingerie.

In the U.S you can find Bordelle in online stores like Nancy Meyer (which probably has the biggest selection) and Journelle. Their price range is quite wide, a lace soft cup bra will go for $148 and up to $883 for a bondage hour-glass girdle dress.

Print Mixology at Japan Fashion Week: G.V.G.V Spring 2011

Print Mixology at Japan Fashion Week: G.V.G.V Spring 2011

I discovered the brand G.V.G.V only recently while doing imaginary shopping at the Opening Ceremony webstore (am I the only one who does that?). The Japanese label was created over 10 years ago by the Japanese designer Mug. A mix of femininity and masculinity is how Mug best describes her style.

What immediately caught my attention in the new G.V.G.V Spring 2011 collection is not only the bold use of color but also the bold print mixing. The most eye catching prints G.V.G.V offers us for Spring 2011 are the Ikat and leopard prints, but also included in the collection are other East Indies inspired prints.

The collection of course is a few months out of our reach, but in the ...

Araisara Spring 2011 Show Kicked Off Japan Fashion Week Today

Araisara Spring 2011 Show Kicked Off Japan Fashion Week Today

Japan Fashion Week Spring 2011 runway schedule began today with araisara as the opening show.

According to WWD, this season Japan Fashion Week officials decided to put emphasis on the buyers and not the media. They decided to use their, tight as it is, budget to fly in buyers and not international fashion journalists. The plan might hurt Japan Fashion Week's international coverage initially but will probably pay off in the long run, as buyers are the ones making the important decisions.

The schedule have just began, but I already have a coveted accessory! Araisara sent an eclectic ready-to-wear collection down the runway. Especially standing out is the oversize buckle belt. How amazing is that?

Helmut Lang Handbags Debut For Spring 2011

Helmut Lang Handbags Debut For Spring 2011

Each season, the Austrian label Helmut Lang brings into the world a collection of minimal chic silhouettes through draped jersey and linens in muted neutral color palette. For Spring 2011, Nicole and Michael Colovos added a handbags collection in that same Helmut Lang spirit.

In tones of black, olive, beige and one popping red we get totes and clutches, each for different occasion. Be it the textured snake-skin clutch or the chunky shoulder bag, they are all going into my must-have list.

‘It’ Handbags: The New Roberto Cavalli Diva Bag

‘It’ Handbags: The New Roberto Cavalli Diva Bag

The colossal birthday party and extravagant runway show were not the only way Roberto Cavalli celebrated his 40th anniversary. He also launched a new handbag - the Diva bag, which made it's debut on the Roberto Cavalli Spring 2011 runway show two weeks ago.

Lanvin Spring 2011 Close-Up: Insect Jewelry

Lanvin Spring 2011 Close-Up: Insect Jewelry

Besides sending ultra modern and feminine clothes down the runway a few days ago, Alber Elbaz styled the models with chunky insect jewelry giving all his looks that ever-so-desired 70's feel.

We have flies, moths and butterflies resting on belts, harness-like necklaces, chokers and bracelets. Gorgeous!
